I can't even remember where I found this guy's paper, but I just sat there and read it, the whole 25 pages. It's eye opening!

Read the Asian Studies paper on Fooly Cooly

Suuuuure you would have....

Yes, I'll be the first to say that it's a great essay (in fact, according to the thread, I am) but there are some things that I've never been clear about. Not things concerning meaning, but the little confusing things about the plot, especially about the terminal core. I must have seen it about 12 times, and I still don't understand everything. But I guess that's what so good about it?

Hmm, IMO what makes it such a great show is that it's basically a 'comming of age' type show but with mecha, cute alien girls and plenty of guns thrown in for good measure. Too bad Gainax hasn't been able to keep up the momentum since FLCL came out. the only decent anime (this is up to debate) that they've made since then would have to be gunbuster 2 (aka diebuster). I think Production IG stole their mojo. =D

IMO what's so great about FLCL is that it so seamlessly integrates like 20 bazillion layers of meaning in one show (with only 6 episodes!) while still being a ridiculous, off-the-wall anime show where a kid and an alien babe save the world with this super cool power and engage in endless amounts of sexual innuendo
